Benvenuti a Roma

I MADE IT! I am sitting safely in my apartment on Via Forli with my 5 roommates having a glass of wine. (only 1,67 euro for a bottle from the grocer down the street.)

Surprisingly, the trip here was pretty uneventful.... No canceled flights, no lost bags, and I actually slept on the plane (thanks to my facemask and two tylenol pms).   Minneapolis to Chicago to Zurich to Rome and I can't believe I am finally here.  It is so surreal and definitely has not hit me yet......

On my way from the airport to my apartment we casually drove past the colosseum.... I don't know If I will ever get used to it. My apartment is in a residential area near the Piazza Bologna, so of course right when I walked in the door we decided to all explore.  Our first official italian meal was pizza (original, I know).  We went to this adorable place called Stuzziko and we got a discount because we were "belle ragazze"....
There are so many different restaurants and cafes and shops near our apartment and we seriously want to try them all!

Our balcony :) ..... which I am obsessed with... actual shutters on every window!

We have an orange tree right underneath our balcony hehehe

We all keep trying to unpack, but we are just so excited and can't stop distracting each other.  You would never know we have all just had a long 20 hr travel day... and of course our voices just get louder and louder as we get more excited (just like home).

We need to try to get some sleep because we have a busy day of orientation ahead of us.... instead we are bonding over beyonce.

Bacioni xxx

P. S. Only one near death encounter so far.... apparently the cars do not stop for pedestrians.  They speed up and lay on their horns.
